The Istituto Centrale per la Patologia degli Archivi e del Libro was among the protagonists of the eleventh edition of Didacta, the most important event on training and innovation in the world of education, with over 400 events including workshops and training seminars. The 2025 edition was held from 12 to 14 March at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, attracting almost 20,000 visitors.
The exhibition provided an opportunity to present the ICPAL School of Advanced Training and Study (SAFS) in the pavilion dedicated to the Ministry of Culture.
‘From papyrus scrolls to digital media: excellence in training for restorers at ICPAL’s SAF’ was the theme chosen by the Institute to inform visitors about the activities that characterise the SAF’s training programme, which offers a five-year course equivalent to a Master’s degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, qualifying graduates to work as restorers of cultural heritage in the field of books and archives (PFP 5). The event was also an opportunity to present the activities of the Institute’s laboratories in the field of restoration and conservation of ancient documents, a sector in which ICPAL is a point of reference at national and international level.
Representing the Istituto Centrale per la Patologia degli Archivi e del Libro at Didacta were Chiara Paniccia, art historian, and Valentina Vianello, conservationist and restorer.
