Today, the Istituto Centrale per la Patologia degli Archivi e del Libro had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the Department of Antiquities of Libya (DoA), led by President Dr Mohamed Faraj Mohamed al-Faloos and accompanied by Prof. Luisa Musso, Roma Tre University – Director of the Archaeological Mission in Leptis Magna and Tripoli, and Dr. Costanza Bordoni, University of Florence.
The delegation, welcomed by the Director of ICPAL, Dr Aurora Raniolo, and by the Institute’s officials, visited the restoration and scientific laboratories with a view to fruitful collaboration on the conservation and restoration of the Tripoli archives, which the DoA, in cooperation with the Archaeological Mission, is already in the process of reorganising, cataloguing, digitising and, in the near future, promoting, as part of a programme supported by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
The visit is part of ICPAL’s international cooperation activities aimed at the protection and promotion of paper, parchment, photographic and film heritage.
