On the occasion of Giornate Europee del Patrimonio 2025, the Istituto Centrale per la Patologia degli Archivi e del Libro is opening its doors to the public with a rich program of tours and activities dedicated to discovering the heritage, history, and technical expertise preserved by the Institute.
On Saturday, September 27, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., visitors will be able to visit the garden and the main building of the Institute (formerly the Institute of Botany, with the historical library of its founder Alfonso Gallo) and access the restoration laboratories, with practical demonstrations and illustrations of the work in progress. The afternoon will be enriched by a demonstration of marbled paper making, a short lecture on the digitization of paper material, and a creative workshop for children dedicated to the manufacture of bookmarks.
On Sunday, September 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the experience will be repeated with guided tours of the garden, the building, and the workshops, accompanied by practical activities: a demonstration of marbled paper making, a short lecture on digitization, and a bookbinding workshop where participants can make a small printed book.
Two days to promote the archival and book heritage through itineraries that combine memory, technique, and creativity.
